A Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) building project has won its second award of the year.

The new Trelawny Scanning Suite and Lowen Ward project was named Project of the Year (more than £5-million) at the prestigious Michelmores Property Awards, having already picked up the top structural award at the Concrete Society Southwest Regional Awards back in February.

Roberta Fuller, associate director of major capital projects at RCHT, said: “We are absolutely delighted to win another award. This incredible new building provides improved scanning facilities and increased bed capacity for some of our most vulnerable patients.

“This is another excellent example of how our hospital in Truro is transforming to provide an exceptional environment for both patients and staff. Sincere thanks are due to RCHT project manager Lewis Saundry for all his hard work, our construction partner BAM and everyone involved in this project.”

The awards ceremony took place at Sandy Park Conference Centre, Exeter on June 27, with over 400 guests but just 11 winners.

The Trelawny Scanning Suite and Lowen Ward project is shortlisted for two more awards: the national Construction News Awards and the Constructing Excellence South West Awards, which are due to be announced this month.
