CORNISH Lithium is inviting new applications for grants from its Community Fund in partnership with Cornwall Community Foundation.

The Cornish Lithium Community Fund supports the work of clubs, charities and groups who seek to make a positive difference in the Gwennap, Blackwater, Chacewater, St Day, Carharrack, China Clay network, Redruth Tolgus and St Agnes Parish areas.

Projects in these areas that aim to enhance skills and education, upgrade social welfare facilities, support industrial heritage and mining history, improve environmental impacts or promote health and wellbeing are invited to apply. The deadline for applications for this round of funding is June 29.

Cornish Lithium are also inviting people to attend a free community event on May 16 from 1.30pm to 4pm at Kresen Kernow. Information will be available at the event which will celebrate the positive difference community projects have made.

Jeremy Wrathall, interim chairman, founder and CEO of Cornish Lithium said: “We are delighted to be opening up this latest round of funding from the Cornish Lithium Community Fund. As a Cornish company we are proud to support organisations that benefit the communities where we operate and, with the expanding footprint of our operations, this funding round is expected to be the largest we have undertaken both in terms of size and areas covered.

“We also look forward to welcoming members of the community to the event on May 16. In addition to finding out more about the Community Fund and the fantastic organisations it has supported, we will be providing information about our upcoming geothermal lithium projects at Tolgus and Cross Lanes, as well as details of our archive and how we are preserving and utilising historic mining data.”

Tamara Sherston-Baker, development director, Cornwall Community Fund said: “It is hugely rewarding to see how local projects are benefiting from the funding from Cornwall Lithium, which is helping to bring positive change across communities. Most recently £17,775 was awarded to 13 local organisations in Cornwall.”
