COMMUNITY volunteer awards have been presented to people in a parish near St Austell.

The St Mewan Parish Council awards were given out at the annual parish assembly at St Marks Church Hall in Sticker.

A council spokesperson, speaking with regard to the awards, said: “This last municipal year, 45 volunteers throughout the parish kindly volunteered their services to deliver the annual parish community newsletter. Special thanks go to Di Thompson from Polgooth who organises all the Polgooth deliveries.”

Parish clerk Wendy Yelland said: “I can always pick up the phone for their help with the mammoth task of delivery to over 2,500 households in the parish.”
