FORMER world boxing champion Ricky Hatton proved a hit when he made a special appearance at an outlet in St Austell.

The ‘Hitman’ visited Jewson’s in the town before heading off to Plymouth where he was taking part in an event at Home Park, the home of Plymouth Argyle.

Jimmy Waugh, the head coach at St Austell Boxing Club, went along to the Jewson’s branch to meet Ricky.

The former champ signed a boxing glove for Jimmy, with the wording: “To Jimmy, best wishes, Ricky Hatton, Hitman.”

A delighted Jimmy said the glove would take pride of place at the club’s St Stephen headquarters.
