NEWQUAY schoolchildren have been inspired to get creative in their writing and care for the environment.

Local author Ellie Jackson visited Trenance Learning Academy to share stories of her book series which tackles ocean plastics.

She also read her story Duffy’s Lucky Escape during the school assembly.

Ellie then worked closely with Year Two children to help them create their very own story.

The children were fascinated by her book Buddy’s Rainforest and made their own story and characters using chalk, nature and their imagination.

A spokesperson for Trenance said: “We would like to thank Ellie for such an important visit, our children were truly inspired.”
