AS we pass the Spring Equinox, it really does focus the mind on the upcoming season which is now quickly approaching with Easter holidays starting in just under two weeks.

After what seems like the longest winter ever I really look forward to the business of the holiday season starting.

If you haven’t seen this seasons tourist information leaflet yet pick your copy up lots of information for locals and visitors alike. I was really pleased to be able to author this year’s foreword so do check that out.

I was pleased to this week hear plans from Newquay Orchard for the upcoming year, including its 10 year anniversary. The Orchard is a jewel in the crown of Newquay.

If you haven’t been to visit Newquay Orchard recently now is a brilliant time to go along explore the space as spring is in bloom and why no pop into the Heart and Soul Café for some wonderful food and drink.

This Thursday the Why Vote? Event is being held by Newquay Methodist Church at 7pm. I will be in attendance and I hope to see many of you there.

Phil Trebilcock: Harbour View

A nice start to the week, but becoming very unsettled from Friday with strong westerly winds and heavy showers.

The boats on the quay will be craned back in on April 1, although Easter is later this year.

A few Cornish King Crabs are slowly starting to appear, generally smaller than usual, a month early really .

It seemed like there was a lot of people around last week, in the harbour and on the beaches.

This Saturday at 4pm is the annual Blessing of the Fleet will be held in the Seamen’s Mission at the harbour.

There is no band this Saturday at Newquay Rowing Club.

Thought for the Week: “It takes absence to value presence “
