A huge crowd assembled in Tregony's main square for the Christmas lights switch-on on Sunday, December 1.

The ceremony was preceded by a parade of lanterns made by the pupils of Tregony Primary School, and afterwards carols were sung to an accompaniment by St Austell Town Band members.

The village sits on the River Fal and is widely described as “the gateway to the Roseland peninsula”.

Des Mennear, chairman of Tregony Christmas Lights Group said: “Tregony is now one of the best-lit inland villages in Cornwall and is well worth a visit. If visitors like our display, they can show their appreciation by making donations in the Londis store in the middle of the village.”
