A Newquay hotel is being demolished to make way for residential apartments.

The Kallacliff in Lusty Glaze Road is being flattened ahead of the construction of nine residential apartments.

Many people are sad to see another hotel in the town being demolished, especially those who have fond memories staying and visiting there. However, others are pleased to see it become a new residential development as the site was becoming “rundown”.

Cornwall Planning Group, on behalf of the applicant, stated in the planning document ahead of the application receiving planning approval: “There is a clear opportunity to provide a high-quality development to meet the needs of present and future generations.

“Overall, the proposed development of the site would represent sustainable development.”
