I hope we are all ready for the great weather this week which comes just in time for Easter school holidays.
Things will be busy over the coming weeks and for Easter weekend there is so much going on as always so do check the visit Newquay website for all the details.
I was pleased to recently get the opportunity to meet with the chair of Cornwall & Isles of Scilly NHS to talk about the local minor injury unit here in Newquay, which 12 months ago went to reduced hours.
We discussed the unique challenges faced by Newquay with its summer uplift in population which puts strain on local GPs, pharmacies and other health services.
Unfortunately our meeting came on the same day the government announced the cuts to NHS England including local NHS leadership board which meant firm commitments were difficult to give, however, we are in regular contact and on behalf of the best interests of our residents and visitors I am continuing to call for reinstatement to a seven day service in Newquay Hospital for minor injuries.
Philip Trebilcock: Harbour View
Probably the best week so far, sunshine, calm with a bit of fresh south easterly wind, but that’s ok.
Several small dolphins have been out in the bay. I think the whale has gone on tour somewhere. All the boats are back in water and several small boats are back as well.
Spring must be here.
It’s good to see loads of lugworm casts in the harbour, which is excellent bass bait. There are still few boats for sale, commercial or pleasure.
This Saturday, Play it Cool will be playing at Rowing Club at 9pm.
Thought for the Week: “Kindness is the greatest gift you can give.”
