NEWQUAY Football Club aims to kickstart new growth and transform its match day experience after signing a new partnership deal.

Newquay AFC has agreed a three year partnership with local hospitality and events specialists WAX Events, who will take over the full food, drink, and events offering at Mount Wise Stadium starting from the 2025/26 season.

The partnership comes at a pivotal moment for the club, who currently sit top of the league, with recent home fixtures drawing crowds of over 500 spectators.

The club is aiming to push beyond these numbers attracting new supporters, new sponsors, and wider community involvement with the backing of WAX Events.

WAX Events has committed to an initial £50,000 investment into the club’s infrastructure as part of the deal.

Plans already underway include a refurbished clubhouse with 4K projectors, new furniture, an extended bar, and a players' lounge.

The clubhouse opening throughout the week and a brand-new viewing deck with direct pitch-side access.

Upgraded pitch-side bars and evolving street food-style menus, a full club rebrand and new website, featuring online ticketing, club news, and merchandise sales.

A pop-up club shop, launching at the start of the season as well as year-round marketing support to help grow the club.

The partnership also allows for off-season event hosting at the stadium bringing new audiences to the venue and providing a fresh revenue stream to reinvest back into the club.

Potential events include open-air cinemas, fan zones, fitness races and Oktoberfest celebrations.

Jack Hunter, the chairman of Newquay AFC, said: “We approached WAX because we feel the club is a sleeping giant.

“With their support, we’ll be able to reach the next level.

“The investment WAX is putting in will be game-changing for our off-the- pitch activities. They’ve already proven their approach works over at Truro City, and we can’t wait to get this partnership started.”

Scott Trayner, head of football operations for WAX Group, added: “Almost our entire events team is from Newquay, so when this opportunity came up, we jumped at it.

“For us, this isn’t about money – it’s about supporting an amazing club in a town we all love.

“The hardworking volunteers have brought the club to a great place, and we’re excited to step in and help take it further.”

Mr Hunter added: “This partnership marks the start of an incredible new chapter for Newquay AFC building on the incredible efforts of volunteers, coaches, players, and supporters who’ve laid the foundations.

“With WAX on board, the goal is simple to make Mount Wise Stadium the best matchday experience in the league – on and off the pitch.”
