THE Newquay branch line has closed for emergency repairs to be carried out following a landslip caused by Storm Bert.
Network Rail states the rail route will be shut for at least a week to fix ballast that has slipped near St Blazey.
Disruption is expected until Saturday, December 7, at 5.45am. Rail replacement services operating for engineering work in the area will continue.
A spokesperson for Great Western Railway said: “Due to a landslip between Par and Newquay all lines are blocked.
“Train services running to and from these stations have been cancelled.
“Apologies to customers, following Storm Bert there has been a landslip, and we are unable to run trains until the line has been repaired.
“Replacement road transport is in operation between St Austell and Newquay in both directions. Passengers at Par travelling to Newquay are advised to travel to St Austell and change onto the replacement road transport.
“Journey planners have been updated to incorporate the replacement road transport.”
