Torpoint Athletic have signed Liskeard Athletic striker James Lorenz in a major coup for the Western League club.

Lorenz had been on dual registration with Liskeard for the season just ended, with the Blues being his first choice.

But Torpoint have announced that Lorenz will be making them his first choice next season.

Manager Dean Cardew told the club's social media platform: "James is a player who I've been trying to sign for a few years now, so I'm delighted he's finally agreed to come."

Lorenz said: "I'm very happy with the move and I can't wait for the new challenge."

Lorenz has been with Liskeard since joining as a teenager and in recent seasons has been a prolific scorer at South West Peninsula League level.

Even in the 2022-23 season he was seventh top scorer in the league with 15 goals despite missing a significant number of games with a recurrence of a knee injury.

After being out for several weeks, he was introduced as a second half substitute in the Walter C Parson Cup final against Okehampton Argyle at Launceston in the last game of the season.
