Southern League Division One South latest round-up

HELSTON Athletic’s Step Four adventure is over after just one season following a 2-2 draw with visiting Bristol Manor Farm at Kellaway Parc.

The Blues went into the game three points behind fifth bottom Larkhall Athletic and with the Bath outfit having a far better goal difference (-19 to -46) the chances were nigh-on impossible.

That said, Matt Cusack’s men did bow out with a decent performance as Jordan Copp netted either side of half-time (42 and 48) to cancel out Rhys Thomas’ 16th minute opener.

Callum O’Brien’s 65th minute own goal earned the visitors a point.

Mousehole missed out on the play-offs by two points despite a 2-2 draw at Melksham Town.

The Seagulls went into the final day level with Exmouth Town and with a better goal difference by two, but fell behind on 16 minutes to Jake Andrews.

Josh Bernard levelled it up for the Cornishmen on 56 minutes before Louis Millard put Town back in front four minutes from time.Jack Symons rescued a point deep into added on time (95), but with Exmouth Town winning 4-0 at Larkhall, it didn’t matter.

Falmouth Town rounded off their first season at Step Four with a 2-1 success over visiting Shaftesbury.

In front of a crowd of 338, Jack Bray-Evans got the winner on 77 minutes, that after prolific striker Rubin Wilson had drawn Town level three minutes into the second half.

It capped off a hectic week for Town who had to play five times in the space of a week.

After a 1-1 draw at Mousehole on Easter Monday, they won 3-2 at Cinderford on Wednesday night which came via Cam Hutchison’s 91st minute winner, while the next night they entertained Larkhall which ended in a 1-0 victory thanks to Jack Webber’s first half goal.
