NATIONAL LEAGUE TWO WEST (SATURDAY)
Camborne 52 Bournville 5
CAMBORNE remain at the summit of National Two West following a comprehensive eight-try victory over visiting Bournville.
With the advantage of the wind and slope in the first half, the Cherry and Whites swept to an unassailable 31-0 lead by half-time.
Alex Ducker went over for his 24th touchdown of the season in the third minute as he ran on to a Josh Matavesi grubber kick. Kyle Moyle knocked over the conversion.
Hooker Ben Priddey was next to dot down from Sam Walker’s neat pass following a superb home scrum against the head, and still inside the opening quarter Moyle squeezed in at the corner flag.
Two further tries arrived before the break, first via prop Jack Andrew before Moyle grabbed his second after a neat exchange with Ducker.
Strong home defence featured after the resumption before the advantage was increased on 52 minutes when Harry Larkins won the race to the ball from Ducker’s chip ahead to score. Moyle again converted.
On the hour, influential centre Will Hennessy was the next try provider as his well-timed pass gave right wing Larkins the space to race over for his brace, which was again improved by Moyle.
Going into the closing stages a spirited Bournville grabbed an unconverted consolation try before home number eight Aden Brassington barged over for the final touchdown of the game.
Moyle’s sixth conversion gave him a personal haul of 22 points in another man-of-the match performance.
