Southern League Division One South latest round-up
MOUSEHOLE backed up their midweek Cornish derby victory over Helston Athletic by earning a goalless draw at strugglers Tavistock on Saturday.
The Seagulls made the – by their standards at least – relatively short trip to West Devon off the back of a 4-0 victory over Helston which came via bracaes from Oscar Massey and Hayden Turner.
Turner scored in the 11th and 64th minutes with Massey, who joined from Falmouth Town recently, notching in the first half on 26 and 38 minutes.
It was a bad night for Helston in front of a 200-strong crowd at Trungle Parc as they continue to slide down the table.
Saturday saw Mousehole visit Tavi but the home side, who are fighting for their lives, proved a tough nut to crack.
They included Liskeard Athletic’s Matt Andrew in central midfield while free-scoring Okehampton Argyle winger Luke Mortimore was also in the side.
The draw leaves Mousehole fourth in the table with 53 points from 31 games.
But they have just 11 games remaining, whereas the two sides directly below them in the race to finish in the top five and with it a play-off place have games in-hand.
After Saturday, Bemerton Heath Harlequins were four behind having played 29 games, while Bishops Cleeve were six adrift with four fixtures in-hand.
Falmouth Town have enjoyed a superb 2025 so far, only losing to Yate Town, but the F-Troop suffered a frustrating week with the Cornish weather ensuring they face a hectic end to the season.
They were due to welcome Westbury United on Tuesday, February 11 but the Bickland Park pitch wasn’t playable, and it wasn’t again for Saturday’s derby with Helston.
All three Cornish clubs are on their travels this weekend.
Falmouth visit struggling Cinderford Town while Helston are at Bishops Cleeve and Mousehole visit Bristol Manor Farm.
