LEADERS Grampound Road extended their lead to 26 points with a nine-wicket success at mid-table Falmouth.

Having slipped to 34-4, Falmouth recovered through William Hocquard (34) and Antony Angove (21), but once their partnership of 47 was ended, they soon slipped to 103 all out.

Paceman Nathan Keevil (3-17) and Sri Lankan pro Ravi Karunarathna (3-20) shared six wickets.

Jack Mingo and Alex Lean (22) added 58 in the chase before Mingo (53no) was joined by Karunarathna (21no).

Beacon thrashed a weakened Newquay side by 204 runs to extend their winning streak to seven matches.

Skipper Ben James smacked 136 from just 106 balls as the hosts racked up a massive 344-4.

The rest of the top five – Sam James (43), Joe Tunnicliffe (65no), Dan Eathorne (29) and Jordan Thomas (38) were in the runs as Newquay’s youngsters toiled. Nick Slack took 2-54.

Newquay mustered 140 all out in reply with Matt Hartnett (26), Abubakir Ibrahimkhil (24), Callan Jenkin (21) and Toby Chillingworth (20) all making starts.

Ben James (3-34) and Chris Terrill (3-8) took three apiece.

Paul are five points behind Beacon after failing to chase 117 at Mullion who picked up a vital 17 points in their quest to avoid dropping into the bottom four.

At halfway, Paul were delighted as the hosts lost their last five wickets for just 12 runs with Jacob Pengelly (2-13) and Matthew Skewes (2-23) doing the damage.

Only James Dark (25), Mathew Davies (17) and Daniel Tripconey (21) reached double figures.

Opening bowlers Michael Fitchett (2-25) and Will Trenoweth (2-18) did a fine job.

Ross Williams (16) and Kameron Collins (18) took Paul to 36-1 and although they lost wickets throughout, at 98-6 with Charlie Goldsworthy set, they looked a good bet.

But Goldsworthy (31) was given out lbw with 19 required, and although Matthew Skewes and Joe Sharp then put on ten, the final three wickets fell for just two runs.

Mathew Davies was the hero with 3-12 from just 4.4 overs, while Turner took 3-38.

Hayle are four points adrift of Paul after winning by 48 runs at Wadebridge Seconds.

The visitors were in a bit of trouble at 85-5, but Paul Lello and Max Jenkin (36no) put on a vital stand of 73.

Lello went in the 44th over for 39, but James Franklin’s quickfire 21 got Hayle to 187-9.

Wadebridge openers Alex Forward and Sam Richards added 87 in just 14.3 overs before Forward (49) was caught and bowled by Tom Sharp (2-29).

Aussie Benjamin Homan (3-16) had Richards (32) caught behind by Tim Marrion and from there wickets continued to fall.

The end came at just 139 as Max Jenkin (2-12) and Matt Lello (2-33) ran through the lower order.

Sam Townsend made 121 as St Erme saw off a spirited Penzance Seconds by 83 runs.

Townsend was involved in a stand of 193 with opener Jack Evans (78) as the villagers racked up 294-5.

Winless Penzance put in a much-improved display to reach 211 all out.

Louis Trotman (45), Noah Kitchen (33) and skipper Elliott Trotman (30) made starts while off-spinner Spencer Wilcock took 4-37.

Camborne Seconds beat fellow bottom four side Roche.

Sam Eva (74) and Stephen Richards (60) made half centuries in Camborne’s 185-8 as four Roche bowlers – Stewart May (2-28), Oscar Green (2-28), Ryan Clark (2-31) and Shaun Trudgeon (2-37) – took a brace.

Roche were going well at 130-4 with James Cole (28) and Harry Trethewey (32) set, but once they departed they stumbled to 170 all out as Ryan Pascoe (3-31) and Stephen Richards (3-42) shared six wickets.
