THE final Sunday of the year on December 29 brought an impressive 43-point haul for Mike Hackett to win the Stableford overall.

He was a full eight points clear of Division One winner John Berryman with Dave Parsall and Karl Rance close behind on countback in second and third.

Division Two winner, and second overall, Derek Williams scored 40 points to win by five from Peter Brown in second place.

Tony Shufflebotham was third on 33 and there were four twos recorded.

New Year's Eve and the last competition of the year for the seniors was a "Baker's Dozen" Stableford with Tony Shufflebotham scoring 31 points from his best 13 holes, a point ahead of three players, John Berryman, Gary Sullivan and Peter Setchell in second, third and fourth.

A point back, Dave Parsall in fifth was a point clear of Vince Dymock and Gerry Dahlstrom in sixth and seventh. Keith Morris had the consolation of the only two of the day.

Foul weather on New Year's Day prevented the playing of the traditional Biff Griffin Trophy which has been rescheduled for January 26.

The bad weather also affected the playing of the second round of the Frank Wills County Knockout match at Falmouth against Mullion on Sunday, January 5, having already been postponed from November. There was better news for the Cornish Bowl team who also played on the same day at West Cornwall against St Enodoc.

After winning the first two matches, they were hauled back to 2-2, leaving the remaining pairing of Dave Parsall and Nathan Fitzpatrick out on the course all square after 18 holes.

The match was settled on the second extra hole where their win created a magnificent 3-2 victory to reach the semi-finals where they will face Trevose on February 2 at a venue to be announced.
