SWPL PREMIER WEST ROUND-UP – SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26
LATE goals from Fin Nancarrow and Haiden Chapman earned Sticker a priceless victory over bottom side Launceston at Burngullow Park on Saturday.
As the first half drew to a close, Tom Guest sent a fine 20-yard free-kick past Lewis Slade to put Sticker ahead.
The Clarets equalised seven minutes after the break as MarkElvidge and the re-signed Jordan Stidson combined to set up AndyWatkins who spun and finished well from 15 yards.
The game looked likely to finish level, but a deflected cross found Nancarrow on the back post and the Sticker man, making his club debut, turned the ball home from close range on 89 minutes. The Launceston defenders and bench were incensed at what they felt was a clear handball in the build-up, but the goal stood.
Chapman soon made it 3-1 and although Aaron Hughes pulled one back, Sticker held on.
Elsewhere in the division over the weekend, Truro City Reserves made the long trip down to struggling Millbrook and won 1-0 thanks to Mykey Davies’ 30-yard cross which flew into the top corner in the third minute of injury-time, while Friday night’s North Cornwall derby saw Camelford draw 1-1 with Bude Town.
On Saturday, Wadebridge Town won 3-2 at Holsworthy with Matt Lloyd (2) and Dylan Peters on target, while Newquay’s 1-0 defeat at Dobwalls which came via a Cam Turner own goal, allowed Liskeard Athletic to go top of the table as they beat neighbours Callington Town 2-0 at Lux Park.
Ryan Richards and Max Gilbert were on target for the Blues.
High-flying Wendron United were held to a 2-2 draw at neighbours St Day.
The home scorers were Wade Brown and Kyle Marks with the prolific Ryan Reeve and Brodie Kemp replying for the Dron who remain in the top six.
