NEWQUAY AFC and Newquay AFC Youth have announced their merger into a single organisation, which will now operate under the name Newquay AFC.
This significant step unites players, coaches, and supporters under one banner, offering opportunities for all age groups – from the youngest mini teams to senior football.
With this merger, Newquay AFC will now host approximately 25 teams, providing a clear and supportive progression pathway for players at every level. The consolidation of resources, expertise and passion positions the club for a bright future, both on and off the field. Together, the possibilities are endless as the organisation works toward greater success and enhanced opportunities for all involved.
Jack Hunter, chairman of Newquay AFC, described the merger as a historic milestone for football in the town. He stated: “This merger is a historic moment for football in Newquay. By uniting our efforts, we are creating a stronger, more cohesive organisation that is set up for long-term success. The opportunities this provides for our players, coaches, and supporters are extraordinary, and we are excited about the positive impact it will have across all age groups. I want to thank everyone involved for their dedication and commitment to making this vision a reality.”
Sharon Rivers-Redman, chairwoman of Newquay AFC Youth, added: “Bringing together our youth and senior organisations under one banner represents an incredible step forward for the club and our community. This merger ensures every young player has a clear pathway to progress and be part of something truly special. It is a privilege to see the passion and commitment shared by everyone involved, and I look forward to seeing our players thrive in this exciting new chapter for Newquay AFC.”

The club also expressed its gratitude for the efforts of the volunteers, committee members, officers and trustees whose hard work and dedication made the merger possible. It emphasised that grassroots football clubs like Newquay AFC thrive because of the commitment of these individuals, who provide invaluable support to the players and community.
The merger marks a new era for the club’s coaching and management staff, who will now have access to greater resources. This enables the development of a unified strategy of play and ensures all players feel inspired and supported. By fostering teamwork, growth, and excellence, the club aims to help players of all ages and abilities reach their full potential.
The unification also advances Newquay AFC toward achieving Step Four status, opening up new funding opportunities to improve facilities and infrastructure. To date, approximately £60,000 has been invested in enhancing facilities and the stadium, meeting the high standards expected across all age groups. These improvements underscore Newquay AFC’s commitment to providing a first-class footballing experience for players and supporters alike.
Newquay AFC extends its gratitude to supporters, sponsors, business partners, and the local community for their continued support, which has been instrumental in the club’s progress. The organisation is now developing new initiatives, sponsorship packages, and memberships to increase community involvement and ensure that everyone can share in the club’s success.
This merger represents a remarkable milestone, securing a bright and unified future for football in Newquay. By building on shared resources, expertise, and passion, Newquay AFC is committed to ensuring that players of all ages, from the youngest enthusiasts to senior teams, are supported by their town’s club and given the opportunity to reach their full potential.
