THE first Sunday Stableford of the month on February 2 saw an overall win for Stephen Bray with his 41 points a clear six points ahead of Division One winner Lee Varney.

Karl Rance secured second place with 33 points, two ahead of John Sweet, Steven Simmons and Peter Bradbury in third, fourth and fifth on countback. Division Two winner and second overall, Brett Green, scored 36 points, a point clear of Gary Simmons and Grant Rockall in second and third on countback. Ian Smith carded the only two of the day.

Michael Rooney took maximum league points with his 28 points over 14 holes in the seniors’ Winter League on Tuesday, February 4.

A point back, Steve Arthur was a point ahead of John Sweet, Rob Maycock and Derek Williams in third, fourth and fifth on countback. Gary Sullivan and Dave Parsall shared sixth and seventh with 24 points while the remaining league points were shared by Stephen Bray, Alan Latham and Tony Kellow in eighth, ninth and tenth. Just two twos were recorded.

The next day saw the The ladies hold their qualifier for the Daily Mail Foursomes.

The winners and the pair that will go forward to represent the club in this prestigious national competition were ladies captain Jackie Oliver and her partner Ann Mee.

The Wednesday competition for the men was a ‘Mulligan's Mayhem’, a scratch format devised by the Competition Secretary where, instead of a handicap shot allowance, players instead receive a free 'second chance', say, to sink a missed putt.

Unsurprisingly, Steve Arthur, the aforementioned competition secretary, won with a score of 30 points, a point clear of Mike Hackett and Jim Oliver in second and third on countback.
