A TOTAL of 33 bird species were spotted when a wildlife group visited the coast and a boating lake in Cornwall.

The Connect With Nature group, which was founded and is chaired Rowena Castillo-Nicholls, enjoyed a three-part birdwatching tour in the Newquay area.

The tour started at Trenance Boating Lake, before moving on to the Gannel Estuary and then finishing at Towan Head.

A spokesperson said: “Fortunately, the weather held and a total of 33 species of birds were seen and recorded during this enjoyable and very interesting event.”

Photographs of a long-tailed duck and a tufted duck were captured.
