A NEW food festival featuring a celebrity chef will be served up in Newquay.

The Newquay Food Festival will be held at the Killacourt between July 10 and 13, which will bring together a collection of hot-food vendors and local producers from artisanal Cornish cheeses and fresh seafood to exotic street food.

There will also be a jam-packed schedule of bands and musicians from laid-back acoustic sets to high-energy latino and Afro-Carribean music, plus a chef stage focused on fire-cooking, hosted by Andi Tuck, who appeared on Great British Menu.

Andi, the head chef at The Tartan Fox by Adam Handling, will be bringing his talented friends and top local chefs to a ‘fire theatre’ to share their techniques and trade secrets on how to cook over flame.

Event organiser Barney Farnworth “I’m very proud to have grown up in Cornwall, so supporting local businesses and independent creatives has become a passion.

“Newquay’s history is steeped in fishing culture, and its food scene is prevalent to this day.

“It's about time this town had a summer celebration of food and music, that it can call its own.”

Co-organiser Harry James Mills added: “We are overwhelmed by the support of the community already.

“It would seem that everyone is very excited for Killacourt to be decorated with vibrant colours, tastes and enticing smells.

“Who wouldn't be?”

A spokesperson for Newquay Food Festival said: “We are truly passionate about Cornish food and the creative arts culture.

“It's no secret that Cornwall boasts some of the best fresh produce, innovative chefs and creative talent that the UK has to offer.

“This event will provide a platform for the local food, drink and music communities to showcase their craft.

“Whether you're a food and music fanatic or just looking for a coastal day out, this is an event you won’t want to miss.”
