WAVE watchers have been out in force to watch a huge swell break off the Newquay coastline on Monday.
The Surfline forecast stated the waves were reaching heights of 25 to 35 foot.
The massive swell awakened the Zorba reef off Fistral Beach, also known as Shrub Tree, which was captured on video by Mat Hammond.
Bob Quinn and Mat filmed footage of the blowhole at Porth Island spitting out huge jets of water.
Mike Young, the owner of Escape Surf School, warned surfers not to venture out as the waves were so huge but some were spotted paddling out.
Mike said: “From a phone camera the waves looked like nothing but in real time the small bits of white were waves breaking two miles out to sea. It was wild.
“It was one of the biggest forecasts I have ever seen. Not in a good way as the winds were 65mph cross onshore with rain and 19 foot of swell.
“That spelled chaos.
“We cancelled all lessons until Wednesday when the new storm blows over.
