VOLUNTEERS are being encouraged to take part in beach cleans near Dodman Point, the highest point on Cornwall’s south coast.
The National Trust is asking for people to get involved in picking up litter on Hemmick Beach to the west of the headland.
A number of beach cleans are being organised, taking place on the first Saturday of each of the coming months.
The first at the south west-facing sandy beach which has coves and rockpools to explore will be on Saturday, September 7, between 10am and 11am.
A National Trust spokesperson said: “Can you spare an hour or so to help us keep Hemmick Beach looking beautiful – and safer for wildlife? Gloves, bags and litter pickers will be provided, but please also feel free to bring your own gloves if you'd like.
“The event is free and no booking is required. There is no parking in the passing place at the foot of the hill at Hemmick Beach, so please park at Penare and walk down the path to the beach.”
Further beach cleans are planned for Saturday, October 5, and Saturday, November 2, these also due to take place from 10am to 11am.
