Community-minded volunteers have combined two village projects to offer more to residents.
Feock Parish HAIRE Project has put together its new repair cafe and cosy hub, to come up with a Repair Cafe at the Hub.
It operates from Carnon Community Methodist Church Hall.
The Repair Cafe is a chance for people to have broken items refreshed or repaired by others with the skills and know-how to mend or tend useful items which have seen better days but need a little TLC.
There are also refreshments, boardgames, puzzles, magazines, and friendly faces.
The launch event saw repairs to a favourite jacket, hems fixed on trouser legs, a trusty torch returned to working order and a clock brought back into service.
Feock Parish Council has congratulated the HAIRE Team on combining the initiative with a cosy, warm space for people to use over winter. Chair Anne Allen said: “Putting together a repair cafe with a warm space was inspirational in these difficult times.
“HAIRE has been seeking innovative ways of helping its older residents and the wider community through the cost of living crisis and this new idea has been well received.”
Bex Rawbone, HAIRE project co-ordinator at Feock Parish Council, said she was ‘blown away by the energy and response to the new event’.
MyFeock Repair Café is on the last Tuesday of the month from 10-11am (except for December). The Cosy Hub runs every Tuesday from 10am-1pm at the same venue and is open to everyone.
