A charity runner visited Truro in his attempt to break the official world record for the most consecutive marathons in cities.

By the time Made In Chelsea star Joshua Patterson crossed the finish line in Truro last Thursday, he had raised more than £120,000 – enough to fund 22,685 life-saving calls made to the mental health charity Samaritans.

A passionate mental health advocate with personal experience of suicidal thoughts, he is aiming to run 76 marathons in 76 days, raising £1-million for Samaritans and finishing in mid-May.

Pictured brandishing a St George’s flag on the steps of Truro Cathedral, he posted on Instagram: “I just finished my 60th marathon in 60 days. Mad mad mad – I can’t stop smiling. This one will take a while to sink in.

“I matched the official world record for the most consecutive marathons in cities. Today’s marathon made me earn it: it was the wettest marathon I’ve run, in Biblical rains.

“We’ve faced every type of weather you can imagine now, but there was something pretty epic about today – it almost added to the experience. You appreciate these days more, knowing the hurdles faced.“Today is a day to celebrate together. We’re achieving something special, even when faced with difficult times.” The next day, he ran marathon 61 to Exeter, and broke the world record.
