WHSmith’s Truro store will open a Toys ‘R’ Us shop-in-shop on Saturday, with a grand opening event to mark the occasion from 8.30am to 1pm.
Geoffrey the Giraffe will preside over the official ribbon cutting and will greet store visitors throughout the morning. The first 50 children through the doors will receive a free Toys ‘R’ Us goody bag worth over £15.
Toys ‘R’ Us stopped trading in the UK in 2018 after 33 years of service, but relaunched online in 2021, followed by a 2023 deal with WHSmith to open branded concessions in nine high street stores. Following this successful pilot, 30 more concessions were opened during summer 2024.
Truro is now one of 37 WHSmith stores set to open a new Toys ‘R’ Us shop-in-shop before Christmas.It will feature products and activities from top toy brands including Barbie, Bluey, LEGO, Marvel, Paw Patrol, Peppa Pig, Squishmallows, Star Wars and more.
