A Truro-based financial planning business is backing the city’s youth football club by becoming its main kit sponsor.
The support from Newham-based Copper Rock Financial Planning has enabled Truro City Youth Football Club to invest in new kits for its teams that compete in the Cornwall Youth Football League.
The club currently fields mixed teams in all age groups from under-sevens to under-18s, and girls’ teams competing in the under 10s and under 11s.
It also stages community football and Wildcats training sessions at Penair School on Saturday mornings in term-time, in a bid to make football accessible to as many children as possible.
Girls and boys aged four to 12 are catered for and the club is always looking for volunteers – no experience necessary - to help run these fun sessions, which have just kicked off for the new season.
Truro City YFC chair Lisa Marley said: “We’re thrilled Copper Rock have generously supported our club, and we’re proud to have their logo on the front of the shirts of all our competitive teams as they play across the county and in tournaments.
“We are an ambitious, independent, community football club where football is for everyone. One of our aims is to have girls' teams competing in every age group, in addition to our under 10s and 11s, and continuing to offer access to football to Truro children through our brilliant community sessions.”
Scott Whitfeld from Copper Rock Financial Planning said: “We help our clients invest in their future - whether that be mortgages, pensions, or investments - so it felt a natural fit to support our city’s youth football club, enabling boys and girls to learn and enjoy the game in a supportive atmosphere.
“The club has been investing in the next generation’s health and wellbeing since 2002, helping them learn new skills, gain confidence and make new friends. My son plays in the under 9s side and we are proud to be able to help the club continue its good work.”
