Newquay lifeboat volunteers were treated to a display of dolphins acrobatically leaping out of the water whilst on their way back to the lifeboat station after a shout.
The crew of the charity’s D-class were surrounded by a pod of dolphins in Newquay Bay on Sunday, September 1 shortly before 7am.
A RNLI spokesperson said: “On route back to the lifeboat station, our crew were treated to a wonderful display by some of the dolphins that frequent Newquay Bay.
“Thankfully, our quick-thinking boat crew managed to capture some of the display on the helmet cam.
“Newquay volunteer lifeboat crew had been paged at 1.50am after a call had been made to Falmouth Coastguard about concerns for four people thought to have entered the water at South Fistral.
“Newquay Coastguard Search and Rescue Team made a search of the beach, whilst the crew of the charity’s D Class lifeboat conducted a shoreline search using parachute flares, search light and night vision monocular.
“Following the extensive search nothing was found, and Coastguards called the search off at 6.40am after deciding it was a false alarm.”
