A TREE of light in memory of loved ones has once again been shining out in the centre of St Austell during the festive period.

People have made donations and dedicated lights on the tree, organised by the Rotary Club of St Austell Bay.

The tree, outside St Austell Parish Church, has raised £697 for Cornwall Hospice Care and other local charities.

The lights were switched on at a service introduced by club president Paul Hancock and led by the Rev Jonathan Huff. Carols were accompanied by Mount Charles Band.

A spokesperson said: “The Rotary Club is most grateful to everyone who made a dedication and donation, and for the sponsorship of St Austell businesses which has helped to cover expenses.”
