The annual St Piran Play took place on Sunday on Penhale Dunes near Perranporth. The event takes place on the Sunday closest to St Piran’s Day. Proud Cornish folk followed piper Merv Davey on a procession taking place from Perran Sands Holiday Park across the dunes to St Piran's oratory and lost church. The patron saint of tin miners, St Piran was played by artist Sovay Berriman, wearing an outfit made using materials sourced from Cornwall Scrapstore. Prayers were led by the Rev Canon Jane Kneebone, of St Michael’s Newquay and also Gorsedh Chaplain, and Rev David Clues vicar of St Piran, Perranzabuloe.
