A TOWN councillor in St Austell is calling for the government to reverse its decision to impose inheritance tax on certain farmers.
Cllr Oliver Kimber, who represents the Poltair and Mount Charles ward, has written to St Austell and Newquay MP Noah Law.
Cllr Kimber said: “I am writing to plead to your government to reverse this tax and to back British farming with the upmost haste! Farmers are the backbone of this country and this new tax will destroy them.
“Anything over £1,000,000 will be taxed at 20 per cent as inheritance tax. This is going to devastate farmers.”
