Skinner’s Brewery lives on, thanks to its acquisition by Goodh Brewing Co, a well-known name in Truro.

Known for its feisty fundraising mascot Betty Stogs, Skinner’s went into receivership in 2022, closing its doors on October 6 after a quarter-century in business.

During that time, it had established a host of popular brands including PennyComeQuick, Cornish Knocker, Ginger Tosser, Porthleven and Lushingtons.

Goodh has a brewery in Indian Queens and also runs a taproom at The Old Print Works in Truro city centre. Its existing brands include Glutenus Minimus, Slow Ride and Gossamer.

News of the takeover began to spread after video appeared on the Skinner’s and Goodh social media platforms, depicting Betty Stogs entering the abandoned brewery to answer the phone, saying: “Don’t worry – everything is fine. Betty’s back!”

Goodh now owns the Skinner’s brewery site on Newham Industrial Estate and has advertised for two experienced brewers to be based between the two sites.
