A surf therapy charity staged a Santa surf in Newquay to celebrate Christmas.

Fifteen children donned their Father Christmas hats and coats to take part in the Wave Project event at South Fistral Beach.

There were also a number of elves in the mix.

The children were given the festive challenge of doing their best Santa stance on their surfboards in the one to two foot waves.

A Labrador dog called Maggie even joined in the fun and surfed a wave to shore to the delight of other surfers and spectators.

The children took part in extra warmups and games before heading into the water to surf.

The Wave Project also organised a gazebo on the grass at Esplanade Green where there were various toys, drinks and sweets and cakes available to raise extra fundss.

Funds raised have been boosted after The Wave Project was selected to take part in the Big Give’s Christmas Challenge, which saw any donation doubled during the week.
