PLANS to build 24 apartments over four floors on the site of St Austell’s former post office have been resubmitted to Cornwall Council.
If approved, an archaeological study would have to be carried out because there is a likelihood of “surviving buried remains” on the site which is within the St Austell Conservation Area.
A previous application to demolish the post office and sorting office on High Cross Street in the town centre was approved in February 2023.
The new plans submitted to the council bring the scheme in line with current policy and address some concerns raised previously.
