NEIGHBOURS and businesses are pitching in to help residents who have been affected after a ‘tornado’ left a trail of destruction in Quintrell Downs on Thursday morning.
More than 100 houses were damaged as the twister tore through the village at about 9.45am.
Tradesmen have made repairs free of charge whilst others have offered discounts to residents affected.
Residents immediately went out to check on their neighbour’s safety in the wake of the ‘tornado.’ Nobody is believed to have been injured in the village.
Residents have also been helping their neighbours make repairs as well as clear away debris from the roads.
Dozens of roof tiles rained down as the ‘tornado’ caused extensive damage in the village.
One resident had part of their roof ripped off and several trees were blown down.
A pig pen was also hurled into the road by the violent wind and several greenhouses and fences were damaged.
Trethiggey Crescent, Vyvyan Drive, Figgy Road and Willow Close were among the streets that were badly hit.
Fiona Strachen Prior said: “It has shown me that we are a community to be proud of.
“Although I wasn’t affected by the tornado there were a lot of houses around me that were.T
“he support between neighbours, friends and local businesses that went above and beyond to rally round to help and support was amazing.
“I believe construction and roofers were doing these services free of charge too.
“We thank you all for being our super heroes. A great community is what makes it a pleasure to live here.”
Resident Peter Grifda added: “I've been helping my neighbour with broken tiles and windows. My garage, tiles on roof as well as my greenhouse lean-to roof has damage.”
