PUPILS at a St Austell school have had the chance to find out more about what it takes to be a paramedic.
Penrice Academy students enrolled on the school’s Future Medics Programme were given the opportunity to board an ambulance.
Emilie Rowe and former Penrice pupil Jody Ford visited from Role 1 Medical to deliver a classroom session before heading outside to showcase their ambulance to students.
The classroom session explored both university and alternative routes into paramedic careers.
Once outside, students were talked through the equipment found in an ambulance.
April Stevenson, Future Medics Programme co-ordinator at Penrice, said: “Students were captivated by the hands-on experience of examining the ambulance itself and the emergency equipment paramedics rely on.
“The crew shared invaluable insights into the essential qualities needed to be a successful paramedic and offered guidance on how students can begin developing these skills in school and beyond.”
