PLANS have been announced to regenerate the former Cornwall Council office campus on Truro’s Treyew Road.

Cornish developer Treveth are inviting members of the local community to an informal drop-in session on Tuesday, June 18 from 1.30pm to 6.30pm at Truro Community Fire Station in Station Road (TR1 3HA).

The 2.3ha Treyew Road site is adjacent to (but not including) the Old County Hall building, and was acquired in April 2023 from Cornwall Council, subject to planning being secured on Phase 1 of the regeneration.

This will consist of 50 homes from one to four bedrooms. Three further phases will bring the total number of homes on site up to around 130 homes.

A range of tenures will be on offer, from open-market rent and affordable rent to shared ownership for those who live, work or have family connections in the immediate vicinity of the city.

Designs for the Treyew Road regeneration scheme are currently evolving and will be shaped by feedback from community events held over the coming months, prior to the submission of a planning application for the site.

Emma Rodgers, senior development manager at Treveth, said: “These homes will be prioritised for people with local connections or those who are working in the local area, discouraging second-home ownership.

“The drop-in session is designed as an opportunity to share information, and for locals to meet the team behind the regeneration. We have found that this approach is key to giving us a deeper understanding about local community needs.

“This helps us to shape future plans and will enable us to take on board views that can be incorporated into the regeneration of the former Cornwall Council office campus.”

This will be the first of several community and stakeholder events prior to the submission of the planning application for the Treyew Road site later this year. Further dates for public consultation events about the planning application will be announced later in the year.

This follows on from other Treveth schemes in Truro, which include The Railway Tavern on Station Road – a mixed-use scheme which intends to create 40 to 50 student beds in different accommodation types, and 400sqm of commercial space; currently going through planning – and Pydar Street, for which Treveth is acting as development manager for the proposed transformation of this part of Truro into a vibrant new neighbourhood and destination.

Founded by Cornwall Council in 2019, Treveth now manages 135 properties across six developments, and 48 units across 10 commercial sites, and has 286 homes in build for local residents in Tolgus (Redruth), Liskeard, Newquay and Bodmin.
