Plans to convert a shop in Newquay into a residential property have been approved.
Cornwall Council has given planning permission to change the use of the Calco shop space to residential at Henver Road.
A & K Architectural Services, on behalf of the applicant, said: “The existing property is a semi-detached dwelling with commercial premises to the front at ground floor level, residential use to the rear at ground level and residential use on the upper floors.
“The proposal to change the use of the ground floor shop front to residential is well recommended for this area of Newquay.
“The property has questionable commercial viability due to its location being a 30 minute walk from Newquay town centre.
“The property also sits within a predominantly residential area of Newquay, the conversion of the shop front shall have minimum impact on the existing retail provisions within Newquay.
“The proposal to remodel and extend shall also create a coherent design both internally and externally in a scale and style that is respectable to its setting.
“The proposed extension to the rear and the amendments to the fenestration will create a well designed scheme that responds positively to its environment.”
