PEOPLE are being invited to attend an ancient custom of lighting a bonfire at a hillfort in St Columb Major to mark the longest day of the year.
St Columb Old Cornwall Society will be holding its annual Tansys Golowan, Midsummer Bonfire, at Castle an Dinas on Saturday, June 22.
The ceremony will be conducted in Cornish and English. There will be entertainment, community singing and the fire will be lit at 8.30pm.
A spokesman said: “An ancient site with spectacular views and a great place to celebrate this historic Celtic Cornish event along with a roaring fire.
“Music and singing fortified with pasties and soft drinks on sale will make this a splendid evening.
“The location together with great company and entertainment make this historic Cornish event something well worth taking part.”
People are being encouraged to bring their own seating.
