A 26-year-old male is fighting for his life in Treliske Hospital following a serious road traffic collision on the A391 in St Austell.
The collision took place at 4.20am on Saturday (March 1) near the Boscoppa Road over bridge and involved a red Hyundai Getz car and a pedestrian.
Emergency services attended the scene and the pedestrian was transferred to hospital with injuries which are being treated as life-threatening at this time.
A 24-year-old from the Par was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst disqualified, drink driving, driving whilst unfit through drugs and failure to report an accident. He has been released under investigation.
The report was closed while an investigation was carried out at the scene.
Officers are appealing for any witnesses that have not already spoken to them, but who may have seen the collision - or have dash camera footage - to contact police via their website or by calling 101, quoting log 117 of March 1.
