A shop in Penzance sold for £50,000 above its free guide price when the hammer came down at £145,000 at auction.

Rosevean Off-Licence came to the property market for the first time in nearly 20 years in the latest sale by Clive Emson Land and Property Auctioneers.

Located in Rosevean Road, it has commercial premises on the ground floor with owner’s accommodation on the two upper floors.

Auctioneer David Henwood said: “This prominent end-terrace property came to market for the first time in nearly 20 years due to the owner relocating.

“There was keen demand for the property at auction and the new owner now has an opportunity to breathe fresh life into the premises.

“This may be through continued use in its current form but the property also offers potential for conversion into a single residential dwelling or two flats, subject to all the necessary consents.”

The property was auctioned jointly with Miller Commercial of Truro.

The first auction of eight in 2025 by Clive Emson Auctioneers concludes on February 6, with bidding live from 4 February. Lot entries close on January 13, with the catalogue available online from January 16.
