NEWQUAY’S newest school is opening its doors to pupils and staff this week.
Newquay Primary Academy is undertaking trial sessions before fully opening on Tuesday, February 25.
The school, which is operated by the Cornwall Education Learning Trust, is designed to accommodate 420 pupils and will have 14 classrooms, a dedicated design technology as well as cookery classroom, a studio for dance activities, a library, main hall and kitchen.
Newquay Primary Academy was due to open in September 2021, but the partially built building had to be demolished after Caledonian Modular went into administration and numerous faults were discovered.
The Sports Bar at Newquay Sports Centre were converted into classrooms due to the delays.
A spokesperson for Newquay Primary Academy said: “After a long journey, we’re so excited that we’re finally getting ready to move into our brand-new academy building.
“This is the start of an exciting new chapter for Newquay Primary Academy, and we can't wait to show you the incredible space where our pupils will continue their learning and development.”
