BUDDING bakers will be getting in the mix to take part in the traditional egg and bacon pie competition.

The hotly contested charity competition will be held at Newquay Rowing Club in aid of Children’s Hospice South West on Sunday, March 2.

Gareth Horner from Newquay Rowing Club said: “This prestigious event generates a considerable sum for charity as well as much hilarity, not to mention more than a few calories.

“Come and join the fun. There may only be one first prize but everyone is a winner in the long run.”

Around 20 amateur bakers enter their best pie for judging each year.

There is no charge for entering but a voluntary donation can be made for a piece of pie.

Entries need to be in by 3pm.
