NEWQUAY Zoo will be celebrating Cornwall’s rich heritage to mark St Piran’s Day.
The attraction will be running a week-long Cornish-themed festival from Saturday, March 1 to Sunday, March 9.

Visitors can immerse themselves in activities and local treats to honour the spirit of Cornwall’s patron saint.
A Cornish-name animal trail will be staged where key Cornish phrases can be learnt while spotting black and white animals to pay homage to the iconic St Piran’s flag.
There will be a taste of Cornwall on offer with traditional Cornish pasties, cream teas and homemade Cornish Fairings.

Visitors will also be able to discover how Newquay Zoo contributes to conservation efforts both locally and internationally, highlighting the importance of preserving Cornwall’s natural heritage.
St Piran’s Day itself falls on Wednesday, March 5, but the celebrations will last all week, giving visitors plenty of opportunities to take part in the festivities.
The zoo will be adorned with St Piran’s Day bunting and proudly flying the Cornish flag in honour of the occasion.
Dave Folland, the operations manager at Newquay Zoo, said: “As Cornwall’s only zoo, we are thrilled to celebrate St Piran’s Day with a mix of cultural and wildlife-focused activities.
“This event is a wonderful way for visitors to embrace Cornwall’s history while also learning about the incredible animals in our care.”
A zoo spokesperson added: “Early Spring is an ideal time to visit Newquay Zoo, as many of the zoo’s animals, including playful otters, curious meerkats, and cheeky lemurs, become more active.
“Guests can also enjoy the zoo’s penguins practicing their swimming skills and coupling up ready for nesting season.
“All St Piran’s Day activities are included with standard zoo admission or membership.
“Visitors can also take advantage of Newquay Zoo’s reduced winter pricing, whilst Newquay residents can enjoy an additional 10 per cent off admission with a Love Newquay loyalty card, which must be presented on the day of visit.
“Whether you’re a proud Cornish local or visiting from further afield, St Piran’s Week at Newquay Zoo offers the perfect way to celebrate Cornwall’s unique culture, language, and wildlife.”
