IT has been a welcome change to see spring beginning to show us its warmer, brighter days this last week.

This reminds us all that before we know it Easter will be upon us and the start, traditionally, of the summer season from there.

Before that though we have lots happening in our community starting next week to celebrate St Piran’s Day on March 5.

Festivities begin this Saturday at the library and then throughout the week.

For a full line up of events go to newquaystpiransfestival.org for a full programme.

This weekend sees the welcome return of the popular Newquay Market throughout the town centre and onto the Killacourt.

This partnership approach between Newquay BID and the town council worked extremely well in 2024 and I am of no doubt that this year will only be bigger and better, I hope to see many of you there supporting local small businesses.

Whilst there, why not go and visit the many small businesses at the Killacourt Retail Quarter including some brilliant new arrivals.

I welcome the news that Trenance school, where I am a governor, is piloting the free school breakfast clubs for children as part of the wider initiative.

Phil Trebilcock: Harbour View

A much milder look to this week with lighter westerly winds.

There will be just few odd showers.

The first gig has gone off to Scillies on Sunday for the world championships.

A couple of boats are back from the Wadebridge boatyard after winter maintenance.

The whale has been seen of Holywell a few days ago. They must like a change of scenery.

Busy weekend ahead at the Rowing Club with Still Dizzy performing on Saturday at 9pm and on Sunday is the annual Egg and Bacon Pie competition.

Thought for the week: “Love is blind, but the neighbours aren’t.”
