A charity is on track to provide further opportunities for bereaved children following a £1,000 donation from a rail attraction in St Newlyn East.

Penhaligon’s Friends has received the funds from Lappa Valley, which was its chosen charity for the third consecutive year.

The attraction hosted a number of families from Penhaligon’s Friends, followed by a Teddy Bear Fun Day in October with volunteers from the charity providing activities for visitors. Lappa Valley donated a large proportion of the day’s admission to the charity.

Penhaligon’s Friends supports bereaved children, young people and their families in Cornwall.

Penhaligon’s Friends CEO Julie Parker said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to work together with the wonderful team at Lappa Valley this year.

“We will be able to use our donation to provide further opportunities for the bereaved children we support to come together with others with a shared experience and get much needed support.

“The opportunity for some of our families to visit and make memories in the park was a wonderful bonus.”

Ben Harding, the operations director at Lappa Valley said: “Thank you so much to everyone who came to support the special day, and help us raise money for a special charity.

“Lappa Valley is a special place where families can make memories together. Therefore, being able to support the incredible and worthwhile work Penhaligon’s Friends perform with local families has been a privilege.”
