THE final phase of the Polgrean Place development in St Blazey has been celebrated by tenants, residents and partners, who attended an official opening to mark the occasion.
The redevelopment has delivered 60 new homes for rent and shared ownership for local people and includes two commercial premises and a community centre.
Ocean tenant, Tracy, said: “I am absolutely delighted to have security of tenure and to be able to relax and enjoy my new flat. It has given me a reason to live, and I am very much looking forward to the future with a new spring in my step.”
The scheme was officially opened by MP Noah Law accompanied by councillor Olly Monk, Cornwall Council’s cabinet member for housing and planning, and local councillor Pauline Giles, the chair of Cornwall Council.
Mark Gardner, group chief executive, said: “Ocean Housing is delighted to complete and fully open its regeneration scheme at Polgrean Place. This has been a wonderful partnership between Ocean, Cornwall Council, Homes England, the town council, the wider community and Gilbert and Goode Limited (also part of the Ocean Housing Group) who turned Ocean’s vision into reality through their skill, dedication and high-quality build programme.”
The redevelopment will make a real difference to the lives of local people and has made a notable difference to the gateway route to St Austell.
Andie Smith, chair of Ocean Housing, added: “All partners should be rightly proud of what has been achieved, but most importantly the provision of new affordable homes for local people.”
New residents of Polgrean invited in fellow tenants and partners to view their new homes.
