TRURO and Falmouth’s new MP hopes that the owners of a Tregony care home will reconsider its proposed plans to shut the facility

MP Jayne Kirkham visited the site and spoke with staff and residents to listen to their concerns over the news that the Roseland Parc is set to close.

The 36-bed site houses more than 30 residents and around 45 members of staff work at the home. Owners Retirement Villages Group (RVG) have given notice of a 90 day closure.

Jayne has said that she has arranged to meet the home owners to discuss what alternatives there may be. The MP also said that this move is not the right one after being told that the care home was profitable.

The home owners explained in a statement released on Wednesday, July 10 that they will be consulting employees and residents on the closure of its home. They claim the closure would enable investment in the site and the provision of additional living accommodation for retired people.

RVG also announced that they will be working with Cornwall Council to help residents that are affected find suitable alternative care. They claim that they will support employees too and explore whether redeployment opportunities would be possible.

RVG commercial and property services director Nick Jones had commented to say that he understands that the news will come as both “upsetting” and “difficult” for everyone involved with the care home.
