A MUSEUM in a Cornish port will be celebrating a number of significant improvements when it opens for the new season on Sunday, March 30.

Mevagissey and District Museum, back for its 57th season, will be opening the doors to its historic building by the harbour at 2pm on the day.

The museum trustees said: “This is the conclusion of a tremendously successful community-backed project which, as trustees, we have run over the past two years, backed both by a local and public crowdfunding campaign, parish council grants and significant funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, administered and distributed by Cornwall Council.

“These improvements began with new branding, followed by a new roof and culminated with a new entrance and reception area.”
